Pinwheel Comb 2023
“3 x 3” Birch, milk paint, walnut oil, wax
I’ve recently become fairly obsessed with carving combs. They are soothing to make, and highly functional
Spice Platform 2023
“10 x 8” Basswood, milk paint, walnut oil, wax
I recently started getting a little obsessed with the Scandinavian style of decorative carving. It is a culmination of multiple interests finally coalescing into practice.
I started reading a book by Harley Refsal where he talks about the peasant use of folk art, and the decoration of everyday common objects. Instead of waiting around to have something to carve ornately, I looked around my home and tried to identify what could use some beautification.
This is a slab of wood we keep on top of our toaster oven to lay spice containers on when we cook. Salt, pepper, garlic, etc. The wood keeps the heat from the toaster oven from melting or burning any of the containers, a perfect candidate for a little folk art spruce up. I’d like to think this piece showing up in a thrift store after I’m gone, and someone wondering what the hell it was used/made for.
Allie’s Comb 2023
“4 1/4 x 3” Birch, milk paint, walnut oil, wax
This was one of my first combs, and one of the first times I tried to use milk paint. It is a comb I carved for my sweetie.

Gnome Kayak Spoon, 2023
Maple, coffee grounds, walnut oil, wax.
One of my first attempts at a greenwood carved Kayak spoon. I kolrosed the gnome and decoration and filled with coffee grounds.
